Scan Your QR Code

Scanning a QR code is a very simple process. All that is required is a code to scan, a smart phone and a smart phone application that is designed for that purpose. Before you scan the first QR code it might be helpful to know exactly what that code is for. QR codes are two dimensional codes that can be scanned by a cell phone with a camera and web access. The codes are often used to link a user to a web address but can supply other information as well. Phone numbers, directions, instructions and advertisements may also be among the data embedded in the QR code.

If you already own a smart phone it may have been programmed with a QR code scanner before it ever reached you. If your phone does not have one it is easy to get one. All you need to do is go to the marketplace for your phone and search for a QR code scannerthat suits the model of phone you have. It may be helpful to do a little research on the internet before you choose a scanner to download on your phone. The smart phone world is full of choices like Google Goggles, i-nigma Barcode Scanner, QR Droid Private and Barcode Scanner. The aforementioned are just a couple of the many apps that are available to use on your phone.

A lesson in how to scan QR codes is not really required. The applications are pretty self explanatory. Most just require you to activate the QR scanner app on your phone and point the camera at the code you wish to read. The app you have chosen will decipher the QR code and either redirect you to the information or provide you with a URL that you can go to at a later time. Some apps even give you the option of storing the data so you can refer back to it at some time in the future.

Scanning the codes is easy to do. Finding codes to scan is also easy. The possibility exists that finding and scanning QR codes may make your life easier as well.
